North East companies are already proving themselves in markets around the globe and UKTI are determined to help drive up exports and the number of exporters in the region, which is the only way for the economy to grow.

There can be no doubt of the importance of Asian markets. Companies cannot afford to ignore the potential they offer and these events are a great way of exploring those opportunities, to help companies decide which is best for them.

The events form part of a national initiative launched in December that aims to demonstrate key business opportunities and encourage more UK companies to export to Asia’s high growth and emerging markets. In the last year, UK exports to the 12 markets highlighted by the campaign were worth £25 billion but there is the potential for a lot more as consumer spending in Asian countries is expected to be $32 trillion a year or around 43 per cent of world consumption by 2030.
